What
Do butterflies hide
Under their wings?
Stone-cold hearts?
Crowns of somber kings?
They
Lust for ambrosia
Nectar of ancient gods
Life-drink of Valhalla
Blossom seeds in pods
Flowers
Lean towards the sun
Away from butterflies
Come to steal their blood
They're burglars in disguise

Very nice poem. Your use of line breaks are well done. Great job!!

This is amazing. I've written something very much like this too, but in a completely different manner than you have. I liked how you posed the question, stated the ignorant image, then busted out with the truth of a butterflies nature. Very creative, and you deserve an aplause for this!

very nice, and happy to be the first to comment. it really makes one think. often beauty hides things sinister. one can never trust their eyes. also, the rhyme here does not interfere with the meaning of the poem in anyway. the structure is fabulous. i almost didn't notice that there was a rhyme unti i looked again to find why, when i read this peice, it flowed so nicely. this a marvulous accomplishment and i'm glad i decided to wander through the poems on AP to come across this.
keep up the good work^_^
