Where has the magic gone
When we have scientists
Solving all the mysteries
When we dim the light
Doubting our histories
Filling ourselves with spite
Where has the magic gone
Where nothing is real
Along with how we feel
Where spirituality
Has left with reality
Where has the magic gone
When the physical world
Is explained to a level
That leaves no room to breathe
Then no one can revel
They can’t even leave
When we look to the stars
And ignore their beauty
When we see our sad world
And cheer to its splendor
When we call our past
Mere children’s stories
I can’t help but wonder
Where has the magic gone
When we have scientists
Solving all the mysteries
When we dim the light
Doubting our histories
Filling ourselves with spite
Where has the magic gone
Where nothing is real
Along with how we feel
Where spirituality
Has left with reality
Where has the magic gone
When the physical world
Is explained to a level
That leaves no room to breathe
Then no one can revel
They can’t even leave
When we look to the stars
And ignore their beauty
When we see our sad world
And cheer to its splendor
When we call our past
Mere children’s stories
I can’t help but wonder
Where has the magic gone
Author notes
I wrote this actually as a homework assignment for my english class, I had to write a poem about anything that happened in a book that we read. This poem was written about a chapter in the book The Dragon's Dagger that really spoke to me, and so this poem reflects not only how Gary Legar from the book felt, but also how I feel.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
