Apples the Ape

Apples is an ape,
An ape who loves apples.
Apples ate eight apples,
Eight apples kept her up late.

A mate Apples met,
A mate named Nate ape.
Apples and Nate ape,
Went out for a date.

They ate Apple-Date Cake,
In a boat out on the lake.
Nate loves apples too,
Do you?

Author notes

This is a poem inspired by the alphabet, my son, and his love of monkeys. When I found out I was pregnant I wanted to write a series of stories using the letters of the alphabet. I started the the story of Apples but never got very far with it and instead turned it into a poem.

This is a story in itself. All you need is a few pictures. This is great and a child would surely love this.

    Very Dr Seusslike.

    I like apples any day
    Like them almost any way
Even use them for my play
    Apples taste so good

    Apple pie or apple crumble
Or other ways on which I stumble
Or from the tree just when they tumble
    Apples taste so good

    Apple juice or apple brandy
A strong dry cider's always handy
    Toffee apple, apple candy
    Apples taste so good
