I battle then in aching nights the flooded fields to see,
For her my love, my Guinevere!
My need could not be more,
So I wield my sword in unrelenting fight to her adore,
That all then might retreat, and her hero I once more!
She, this lady suckered to a King I love so yet,
But as I love in earnest then, his wrath I may regret,
But love I do her heart, so set upon my need,
This lady she so rare and good,
On her beauty I doth feed.
Arthurian Knights then labor now, that I might win her heart,
I care not of the lands he keeps,
Of her to be a part!
For God not man has made it so that I might love again!
Ti’s destiny that brought me here, not need to battle then.
And if I die for need of her, with sword still clasped in hand,
I naught then will regret this death, if her love doth command?
For life I give with ease of heart, to gift her so of me,
And wait there then, on heavens own gate.
To greet my destiny!

I thank you for this wonderful entry
It is a pleasure to see such blessed inspiration
Well done
-
Positive: was very very well written and the beat and rhythm in which it was read was just top notch i give you claps for that becuase in the manor it was written is hard and succeeded at it
Negative: for me the 2nd stanza was a bit bland retelling the first in different words
but none the less great and extremely well written -
Thank you for your beautifully expressed write, good luck in my contest and happy new year, Josie

-
May this new year bring to thine heart, all that thy wishes desire, my lady!

A very good poem Kieth thanks for sending me the link. I really loved the mideaval flow and the twist ov a very classic tale. Its a great write.

-
First off; beautiful picture. I'm a big fan of the knighting ceremony, actually. Secondly; I enjoyed the way you used the language... very back then lol. Slightly confusing, but enjoyable. And thirdly; beautiful idea. To win the heart of the one you love... beautiful.
-
Looks like her prince has come in the form of a knight and shining armor. Such love as this is but a beautiful thing in all its innocence. Wonderfully expressed.

I have been trying to expand on my writing in olde english I find it a side topic of interest and feel it is just another block in the building of the poetic house of writing. well done Thanks for your entry and good luck to you in the contest.

-
-
How can it be a block?
Its easy!
You just feel what you are feeling, and write it down.
Don't write to impress!
Just write what you truly feel inside.
And never be afraid of what you feel.
It is love, what else is there but this?

Wow, this is written so well. I love Old English.
It really did feel like Lancelot was speaking from his heart, wanting to be heard by Guinevere. Well done, I like this much much.

well done
I like this. It has a flavor of old world English appropriate for the poem. It has elements of the Arthurian legend. It reads and flows well. -

Interesting..... I like it, it is different. I do remember this story and I think you did well depicting it in poetic form. I think the style was perfect for the topic, so kudos on that. I'm not usually one to like strict rhyming like that, I like more of a disorganized poem, but I think it really worked in this piece. Thanks for the entry.
-
very skilled write.
the language you used to write this with is closely linked to the way i can write, however, yours is a tad bit more in depth of the language than probably mine would ever be. i never read that story of guenivere, my favorite was the language of the ol fashioned Romeo n Juliet. when i finally was able to understand it in highschool it captured me. i enjoyed this write. i had to read it slowly a few times to really understand it. i did not want to just browse it and leave some false and lame comment, i'd rather be honest. but as well, yes it is nice to see someone else be able to do this sort of thing. i have never persued the language because it is hard for most to comprehend it, although it does seep out in my writes occasionally and i cannot help but to apply it. In essence, very good write, and i will share another with you later that is not of the language, but closely related. it is a collaborated piece i did once.
-
Aaaww! This is so sweet!
-
Poor Lancelot and Guinevere, caught in a forbidden love. I don't really remember the story. They ran off together, didn't they, but what happened then? Good entry.
-
This is really lovely keith!
Excellent rhyme and nice choice of words.
Thank you for telling me about it. I enjoyed reading it.
Keep on writing,
Nooni
-
a good piece though not keen on the language here with thee and doth, we live in 2006! spill poetic ink and twist me into the wild crazy shape of unfathomable love...
-
This is the first poem I just had to read to my family. We are all speechless...What else can I say? Thank you for contributing to our quality family time. It reminds me of so many things. All the great Arthurian movies... Legends; I saw a show just this week where they found a grave of a 7 foot tall noble buried with a woman with blonde hair in a ruined Abbey. There was in the soil a lead cross that said this is King Arthur and Guinnevere. When the searchers touched her hair, it dissintegrated...

So Romantic
This is wonderful..Sooo Romantic. Well done on on such a beautiful write ~Aurine~ -

-
i am impressed by style the purest passionate and romanyic love .. for all the died hard there please come read this and feel i feel and truly believe in a romanic and passionat love.. love conquerr all imagery is great
-
this is the essence of chivalry captured equisitely in words...
the purely passionate romantic love was, in reality, a hard path to choose...this almost reads like a prayer of devotion.
i'm very impressed.

Whoa, you've really carried this style off quite well. A very impresive piece. Beautifully crafted and flows really well. Excellent work on this
-
I'm not usually one to get into the whole old English talk, ut I think it adds to the mood of your poem that you wrote here, and it really wroked out how you wrote it.
-
VERY nice work here..I love it Sir
-
Wow! How romantic!
-
My My Sir. Knight.Your heart poundeth with passion.I love it.May your fighting not be in vain, Gwenevere
-
I can only dream!
Wow~ Sir Lancelot! lol.. I mean Sir Keith Drew, I am overwhelmed with the beauty of your words and the wonders of the message that the entire poem portrays! I can only imagine the entire scene unfolds before my eyes, you as a knight, truly in love with the queen and fully dedicating your honor to Lady Gwenevere, without caring if you live or die!
Ahh, I am melting and the best part is;
"For life I give with ease of heart, to gift her so of me,
And wait there then, on heavens gate.
To have my destiny!"
I can just imagine, above are lines that ladies want to hear from their men! Wow! Lovely as can be!
Thank you for entering the contest and good luck!
-
