There is a star shining brightly
showing the way in the night
three wise men set out to follow
the streaks of golden light
The little town of Bethlehem
is about to be filled with joy
for it is now Christmas eve
time for the birth of a boy
This blessing born in a manger
as the brightest star shines high
wrapped gently in swaddling cloth
the only son of God began to cry
A calm came over this holy night
a night full of wonder and more
the peace would soon be broken
they all did not come to adore
This baby born known as Jesus
would become the King of Kings
praise the Lord for our reward
in heavens where angels sing

WONDERFUL COMMENT
Thank you for the wonderful comment. I have never counted sylables except for my haiku and a few other forms but most of my poems are not counted. I just write because I enjoy it.
Thank you again for the lovely comment. Take care, Sandy

A beautiful poem like this...and someone is counting the syllables? This really amazes me. What is this...Poetry 101? Lovely poem Sis. ~ Love, Linny

Hello Sandy, as usual you have graced us with your remarkable poetry. It is so beautiful the way your poem flows elegantly through each stanza. This was a lovely write and I have enjoyed reading this today, thank you for sharing. Have a beautiful afternoon.....Ken...IBT

This reads like a very large Hallmark Christmas Card. Even the picture fits. The abcb rhyming scheme is well followed but the syllable count seems to change from stanza to stanza. For example, 8-7-8-6, 8-8-7-7, 8-7-7-10, etc. Anyway, just an observation. Still a wonderful reminder of the reason for the season.

holy poetry of musical quality
Hello Sandygram. Your first few stanzas scanned better than the final two. Even so, I admire your lines and rhyming skills in your writing of this Christmas carol.Did you have a tune in mind as you wrote this? I know of fine lyricists who keep some appropriate tune in mind when writing poems such as yours. Thank you for this Christmas treat. Lyndon Wise.PS Let me know. -
This is a beautiful poem.
It reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.
"A calm came over this holy night
a night full of wonder and more
the peace would soon be broken
they all did not come to adore"<--that is my favorite stanza.
I'm not quite sure why though.
Great imagery too.
I love it.
Awesome job.
Keep it up.
