An Honest Christmas

What has this turned in to?
Why the trees, the santa, the
remnants of the pagans?

Why are you going into debt
so you can buy Timmy that
200 dollar pair of shoes?

Have you forgotten?

The date stolen by the
little horn and turned
into blasphemous mockery

Take it back!

Don't you remember the reason
why we are to be joyful?

Remembrance of He that died
so we may have a chance
to live

Yet all you care about is glitter
and your goodwill and love
are dashed upon the floor

Right next to the empty
hollow promises of
love bought with money and
trinkets

The truth isn't upon a tree
or fat guy with baubles,
the flashing lights and
commercialism

It is within your heart

Repent and give thanks,
for all else is folly and
illusion

Author notes

Ok, it's a bit odd. My anabaptist roots are showing a bit.

Christmas is too commercial, too business like and too superficial. You are right about all of that.
