Dear Poet,

I heard your plight where you cannot write;
as if your muse has left you bereft
and in mourning for the joy of creation.

But I am here to let you know,
this night I see the bright stars
and hear their shimmered singing;
a gentle song of life and love
beckoning to join in with them
as each gaze into their clear sparking eyes
reflects a celestial blissful wonder.

Listen with childlike joy as crickets call
from shrub and brush asking for a dance,
for you to join along in time.
Syncopated evening susurrations reach out this night,
in every whispered form and manner to ask of you;
write my dear poet, write.

Write of what you know and feel,
write Out Loud the abounding brilliance of a newborn’s smile.
Put to paper your deepest soul’s aching and labored sorrow;
allowing light to bathe the oldest hidden wounding;
but write, gentle poet, oh please write.

Surrender to this call of pen and the crisp white bond
shared as ardent scribes of color and shade.
From the recesses of thought and being,
mining beyond the boundaries of normal rationality,
reaching into thought’s shadowy  echoed dreams,
aroused from slumber’s soft gates, write on.

Whether with visceral imagery gathered by weathered hand
or with an eager infant’s pouting suckle,
from heaving ocean froth to the steps of cherub songs
poured out from Heaven’s Home, write on.
With all the abandon that love’s great depth provides,
Write On!
Dear poet, please, write.

    Your poem reminds me of so many of the things I love in life: night sounds, babies, oceans. It also...for some reason...reminds me of "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas; Something about the "voice" in this and the repeating lines, I think. I found nothing to really "critique" here, so I'll just say thank you for entering, and good luck to you, poet.

    Best wishes,
    ~J.

    You could easily market this as a cure for writer's block, it is just absolutely brilliant! I was practically writing on my computer I was so inspired by it! Amazingly uplifting, you're undoubtedly a very talented writer! IT just...did that amazing thing, the wonderful act of 'filling the void' for lack of a etter term, that comes with truly beautiful poetry. A sense of understanding, I guess. Fantastic.

    Oh my, if that’s not an instant cure for writers block, then I don’t know what it is! Absolutely brilliant!
    I chose to read this because I noticed it in featured and I have a poem of the same title… I wondered if there were any other similarities, and I discovered there weren’t… yours is puts mine to shame!
    I think I need to print this off, to refer to on occasions when I am in need of inspiration. Excellent work!

    The words start and they do not stop. As writers we sometimes don't know when to stop, when enough is too much, or not enough. I like how you motivate us to continue, to begin, to not stop. Well written.

    Wow, That was great. I often get blocked and it drives me insane.
    I have often wished that I could just Write , but this is not so, Many have the ability to write from the mind, thought up words penned on paper, But I, I have to wait for the words to come to me, for inspiration to spark my soul and set it into action. Thank you for this, I have enjoyed reading it ~Bret~
