The sounds of Christmas long ago
warm thoughts of a gala celebration
shiny reflection in heirloom ornaments
Christmas eve so much anticipation
Following our footprints in the snow
chopping down the evergreen tree
so many remembrances flash back
the joy of each Christmas memory
My big brother's train under the tree
the tinsel that kept falling on the track
getting up in the wee hours of morning
hoping to catch Santa opening his sack
The sound of presents being torn open
wrappings and ribbons scattered around
yuletide songs being played on the radio
each one a favorite Christmas sound
Strands of red and green around the tree
there is an angel that sits oh so high
adorning the top of the towering pine
fond memories of a Christmas gone by

So Beautiful!
Sandy so many delightful and fond memories this brought to mind of my past Christmas's. It's been 14 years since my entire family was together for the holiday, the one right before dad passed away. We're very close siblings, keeping in contact at least once a month, but we all live so spread apart it's hard to get everyone together since the glue (dad) left us. Thank you for sharing this warm and heartfelt pen, was a pleasure to read
Best wishes in this contest! And have the happiest of holidays!
