delicate petals wait to bloom
and spread their sweet nectar
kept in the shadow of the winter.
Cold days will be rewarded with a flower,
early Spring will be filled with its perfume.
Kept in the shadow of the winter,
delicate petals wait to bloom.
Author notes
The Amaryllis must be kept in the shadow till it starts to blooms. Then it may be removed from a dark closet to its full blooming glory

''Cold days will be rewarded with a flower''
All I can tell you is...mine had better be one damned good flower because I've had a very long wait...oh wait, we aren't discussing flowers anymore are we.
I wonder what I wrote below...I won't go look, I usually make myself sick when I do.

-
lovely
Great write. -

did i read it before? can't remember now.
-
I have a dark one, the first one I wrote actually
-
i like the triolet, a good one here lol what crossed my mind when reading this was i will have to write a dark one one time! i don't think i have seen one that isn't about nature or love, so maybe i will sort that
-
aaah... a triolet, and again a wonderful one.
You know, I'd tried recently to write one of these about daffodils in fact, but I just got stuk after the first word (that was daffodils
)

-
I remember as a child waiting anxiously for the first flowers to peek out of the snow. A lovely poem that brought back some beautiful memories. Hugs, Patricia
-
Absolutely lovely. Your poem and the flower both, that is. I've missed reading your stuff while I was on hiatus. Such a lovely picture you painted with your words. Great triolet. Keep it up!

the picture is so beautiful...i have never seen an amarylis. but with your picture it's so beautiful.
but with your write.
your words are so refreshing
like an early morning dew
your words are so beautiful...
blooming with life,
you describe the beauty of the flower so well
there is an intrinsic vivacity with your words
that is why it's symbolically beautiful
like a young lady in bloom.
miss ya
Anna Lee -

this is an amasing write. sad in a way, yet, hopeful. it grasped an emotion from me, and that surprised me this morning. but, i do love your writes.

A beautiful flower to go with your rich and colorful words. I tried to grow them once but now I know what I did wrong. Well done.
Sincerely,

Lovely and I'm very fond on/off Amarylis. We have now a white one in bloom in a long vase (Hugh.. a good idea twice a week watering)But most of all I love the brilliant combination of the write and the colour of your photo. (real fine lightfall... own pic?)
-
Mi hija,
Would you believe Edna and I have one exactly that colour which I have brought into our conservatory and which, on its single stem, has three magnificent blooms exactly like the one in your picture!
Of course the damn thing needs watering every day which is OK if I remember (there are eight plants in there that are ALL alcoholics!! If I forget, they either fall over or the leaves go all funny and Edna panics and says I've killed them!
It's easier to write poetry than to keep some plants alive!
I'm going to do my haka practice now.
Very nice poem love. No spelling mistakes and meter is pretty good too. Don't know what else to say except you don't mention Pedro's feet or your poi practice or even Yem!!
Applause, love and hugs, XXX El Padre, (the Amaryllis slave.)

Kept in the shadow of the winter
or
Safe in the shadow of the winter.
A wonderful read as always. Love it when you post triolets.

That was very nice, very XIX century-like
-
Mari,
I never knew this of the amaryllis~~you wrote a lovely piece about this beautiful flower. Unlike my love of birds, I don't know much about flowers. Well, not many flowers that is.
Cheryl
Cheers!
