The light flickers softly
as the gentle breeze passes by.
Their white wings glowing,
halos shining as they dance.
Singing their melody,
free from soul
yet chained to spirit,
the angels twirl and jump
touching the heads of those once loved,
and now forgotten.
A sad smile lies upon their faces,
as they watch the single tears
shed for their exodus.
Knowing no pain and
remembering nothing of their time
on the very world which they have left.
Their sweet ballet continues,
as they dance and dance
their translucent feet gliding
over the cold wood floor
which their own body lays upon.
Forever they will encircle
what could have been.
Softly, effortlessly their
peaceful ballet goes on,
and eternally dancing
they will be.

I don't like to begin with WOW, and was soo tempted here that I suppose it is good that I have the power of restraint. This is very, very good Shannon, and reading it made me think how your words were gracefully dancing all over the page, or electronic stage in this case. In the second line, "by" is not necessary with passes as it's obvious. I am not sure about "translucent" either, as it definately stopped me each time I read this poem. Very nice though and that's why you get the big applause. Best wishes and regards, always.

shannon i really loved this poem. it had this calming flow about it that kinda drew me in. i started it and by the third line i was somewhat awed. now i have to go back and read some of your other poems since this was so good lol.

I'll agree with Kate - this is nice! The only thing I could suggest: "A sad smile lays upon their faces," lies instead of lays maybe? Just a suggestion. Other than that, I really liked it. Towards the end it kind of sounded a but repetitive but thats alright.
I liked the links here - real life/ballet. Hidden message I think? This is the deep Shannon we all know and love. Great job Shan. -Cole'
