Mommy, where will we hang our stockings?

We moved this fall to a smaller home
Trimmed with apple trees and pines
When placing holiday boxes inside
My daughter made quite, the reply

She's only 8, with eyes bright blue
Her face, so devilishly coy
Mommy? she said, with a inquisitive voice
Where will will put all our toys?

When Santa comes we have no more room
For all of our gifts we will get
No fireplace to hang our stockings
We'll need a new place, don't forget!

I looked around the room, then smiled
And stated, "You know Hon, you're right!"
Let's put the boxes down, right now
And figure this out, with no fights!

She gazed upon the room so small
Then shouted "I've got an idea!"
Brimming with hope I said "Okay!
Tell me your great, new idea!"

She pointed and looked at the wooden columns
That separated the kitchen and den
Then said "I think we should hang them right here!
So Santa can find and fill them!!!!"

We smiled and agreed to hang them right now
We searched through the boxes at once
She took them out and hung them with pride
They've been hanging there now... for months!!

Hi Ken, thank you for your wonderful comments and applause on my poem. My daughter is truly an Angel, so full of life and bubbles...I am happy that my imagery of that day was passed on through my words! That is what Christmas is, the little special things you can do to make memories together with those you love. I will definitely be sharing this poem with her!!! Thank you again. And a Merry Christmas to you and yours!! Jasmine
