Out of all the days I hate
The holidays stand out
Relatives ask me what I ate
As my brothers play and shout
All my food is gone
Not a morsel passed my lips
Filled napkin withdrawn
Nestled between my hips
Their stares are intense
Eyes concerned
They say it doesn't make sense
My lesson should be learned
I look demure
Apologizing for this one (constant) mistake
My parents promise a cure
Sliding me a piece of cake
Then they leave after a fashion
And all is held at bay
I pick at my slice with no passion
Until another holiday
Author notes
I have a weight problem due to low metabolism. Experience has taught me that anorexia does not help and when it's all said and done, you're weak and hungry. Please don't do that to yourselves.
