A Quiet Flame

Missing image
Hypnotised by dancing flames
Behind the fires glow.
Reflections of the fading year
A stream of memories flow.

Safe within the arms of peace
I watch the hour glass.
Once again this Christmas eve
Will slowly come to pass.

As midnight brings a closure
Christmas day will dawn.
A precious gift from heaven
The day our dear lord was born.

It also brings excitement
Filled with such surprise.
Impatient probing fingers
And children's sparkling eyes.

A constant flow of laughter
Maybe shed a silent tear.
A time for friends and family
To share the Christmas cheer.

Then as the day continues
The end is drawing near.
Raise a glass to loved ones
And remember those not here.

For mothers,fathers,children
Brothers and sisters too.
we'll burn the brightest candle
And let the love shine through.

I LOVE THIS PIECE SHAZ!! It was truly amazing and inspirational. This is more your type of writing, or at least the type that I love to read. It really got the message through I thought, or at least to me it did. Great Job on the imagery and detail and the EMOTION (don't get me started on all that WONDERFUL emotion). This is definately my FAVORITE piece by you, but then-again I do have a soft spot for Christmas .
    With Love,

Very good. Bravo on this piece. I thank you for entering and following the rules. I would like to point out one of the best parts about this poem.
    As midnight brings a closure,
    Christmas day will dawn.
    A precious gift from heaven,
The day our lord was born.

I want to thank you so very much for putting the meaning of Christmas in this poem. It just touched my heart a lot because a lot of people do not understand the true meaning and you have successfully put it into this loving poem. Thank you so much again for putting this into the poem. Keep up the great work and again thanks for entering. Kahy

I really liked this poem, the flow and rhyme were wonderful. 'A constant flow of laughter, maybe a silent tear', this is so true. It would have to be my favourite line. A lot of thought went into this. Now i'm all excited about Christmas And good luck in the contest.

Nice piece, this one. I like the quiet tone and the rhyme scheme is really nice. In the fourth stanza though, I think you mean "impatient" and not "inpatient." Anyway, great piece. Take care!
