All We Are Saying..

We live for yesterday and tomorrow
waiting for someone to fight for the things that we know have to be wrong
but we continue
we continue to use and abuse the truths that we have been forced to consume.
Imagine...
Imagine living for today
living for the people that forgot what it's like to live for whats right and they have given up on trying to fight.
Imagine...
Imagine sharing all the world
no more buying and selling of this piece of land that came from mother natures hands
capitalization
has turned into manipulation
Imagine...
Imagine living life in peace
bring back the passion that our parents seen and realizing what freedom really means.

All we are saying is give peace a chance

These were the words that you wanted to be heard but through someones disturbed land of imagination were slurred.
Even in your death your legacy has touched even the coldest hands.
The hands of the corrupted that have turned this place we live into human wastelands.

So come together
come together over false prophets that have said that there couldn't be a land with no religion
come together over those people that tell you that you cannot speak
that you cannot be heard
come together..
Over Me.

Author notes

O.K. So this poem is what John means to me. He represents everyhting that we are told that cannot happen in todays society. He was a revolutionary, and everything that he fought for is still worth fighting for today, and the last line, come together over me, menas that we should all come together over John Lennon, we should all come together over everything that he was and everything that he stood for.

Beautifully written tribute to Lennon, Chauna. It really feels an extension of Lennon's song "Imagination," and causes a reader to really contemplate if Lennon's visions were ever followed-through what the world might be today. I really liked that you worked several Lennon song-titles into the poem as well.

Really well-written, and best wishes to you in the contest!

    Jo

Thank you, it is very sad that he was so young when he died, imagine what the world would have been like had he lived...

Nobody Told Me There'd Be Days Like These.

I'm a huge John Lennon fan. I absolutely love this work in that it is such a beautiful composite of all his songs- and his music was his beliefs...his life. You know the other day, I heard he was only 40 when he was murdered; that hits me because I just turned 40, and you realize just how young that is! He had such and impact in such a short time. Your work put together the best of the best. I loved the closing lines, too! Well done! SparkleSatine

Thank you so much for your comment. I do agree with you on the religion part too. I think that is what John Lennon was saying when he wrote this song. There would be a lot less suffering and corruption if there was no religion. Thank you so much!!

you know what---I really like this poem because in last stanza...it talks about religion, a world without religion. I'd like that, because personally, I believe that religion corrupts. I mean honestly...Take for instance Isreal, the musslims, Jews, and Christians are all fighting and having wars over the same damn thing----ITS A HOLY LAND. Bullshit. And we constantly fight and bicker about who's religion is better. MKaybe there is a God...But if there is, what the hell is his damage???Religion ruins people, and he's supose to bring peace and love, but all this worship is leaving me a dunce.

thank you so much, you made me smile with that comment, like I said, I am all about John Lennon right now, there was a thing on T.V. about him not to long ago, well actually, William Chapman, and this whole sob story about the reason that he did it was because there were these little people in his head that were telling him to, I think it's all a bunch of crap. There was an article in the New Yorker about an interview that they did with Sean, he said that if everyone thinks that Chapman killed his dad then they're all a bunch of idiots cause the government did it. I agree, I think that John knew alot and he threatened the government, and they wanted to do something about it. I dunno, I love him thoguh, everything about him!!
