Secrets

We all have them
Buried in our hearts
Hidden in our minds
Locked away from the world
Cloaked with invisibility
Never revealing
A skeleton in the closet
Lying in wait
Veiled by lil white lies
Holding back the truth
Horrified by
The possibility of escape
Packed away from
Peering eyes
And inquisitive minds
Nosey busy-bodies
Who itch to know
And spread the gossip
Transforming the truth
Giving birth
To new found tales
Hurting everyone
Them self included
Failing to see
The damage they cause
From one slip of the lip
Upon naive ears
Of such things
They know nothing about
Spreading rumors wildly
Like an uncontrollable brush fire
Once the word is out
Taken back
It cannot be
Ripped from the barer
Without permission
Taken without warning
Destroying what they tried
So desperately to hide
Leaving them exposed
And unarmed
In a battle
Of devastating words
Piercing them to the core
Yes,
Hidden in our minds
Buried in our hearts
We all have them
The secrets we keep

i can relate to this poem as so do many other people.

    Yes,
    Hidden in our minds
    Buried in our hearts
    We all have them
    The secrets we keep

I like this part the most because it keeps the reminds the reader of the message of the poem and it is also a good conclusion. keep up the good work!

i hide alot of things and i know from personal experience that you dont want to tell anyone anything, because that one person can spread a rumor so quickly...i just keep alot of things locked inside and i feel that its for the better. very good write, and so very true!

This reads as if written from a very personal experience you had when someone betrayed your trust. I don't know if thats the case, but the way you describe things, the intensity of the way you talk about hiding secrets way, makes me think you are hurting over something as you write. If you are then you have got your emotion out onto the page really well, if you are not then you have a very strong imagination and a gift for evoking feeling in a reader.

    The secret of friendship
    is not to slip
    or ask a quip
    to deny any fellowship.

    The problem with friendship
    is its hiding rips
    from our breast skips
    to reveal itself unhip.

    Secrets and friendships war
    giving blows what for
    oh regret lost innocence
    which life freely spent.

    Yes our secrets rule
    voluntarily another cannot pull
    still as hearts pool
    we become secret's fool.

    This is my review.
