Shattering

I watch it fall to the floor
shattering to pieces
... my heart

Tears continue to fall,
trying no to feel anything
but instead I feel everything

I want it to stop
all the pain and hurt
to just wash away

But it's like a knife
continuing to tear me apart
it just won't stop

it just won't stop

I've tried and tried
but something
always gets in the way

To be loved
and to be happy
is that so much to ask for
