I Can't Let Her Drown In My Ocean

“There’s a girl who has a very strong mind
She’s the one who walks through the ocean of dreams
But I don’t want her, there’s nothing she can do
I just won’t look to her pleading screams

I’ll never let her drown in the water
But I know she’s slowly dying
As I confess love to another girl
She’s still always there, just trying

She’s battling her way through my mind
And fighting against the tide
She knows there’s nothing left she can do
Each day each request I’ve denied

I’ll never let her drown in the water
I won’t take her hope away
Even though she knows I love another
Her love for me is here to stay

Though I have pushed her away
She’s still filled with utter devotion
I don’t care to love her, but I care enough
That I can’t let her drown in my ocean”

Author notes

This poem is written from a guy's point of view, who obviously cares, but just not enough.
It was inspired by the phrase 'I didn't let him drown', for the contest 'Work with the Phrase' by Song Robinson even though I didn't exactly use the phrase in my poem.

oh my what a beautiful peice, excelent use of the phrase ive given you, my favorite was the last stanza, and my FAVORITE favorite was the third 'fighting against the tide' how creative! interesting that its from a guys point of view, i couldnt tell that it was written by a girl which was excelent. although the first stanza could use some kind of renovation, this was very well written and clever, perfect entry!
    -Song- thanks you muchly
