One rose
From a friend,
The purity of the relationship
Symbolized by a cup of petals
And a few thorns.
Two roses
To catch the eye,
To apologize
And distract the mind
From the horrid.
Three roses
From an old flame,
Meant to reestablish
To resurrect
A tainted love.
Four roses
Given as thanks,
For a love long passed
A thoughtful gift
And a constant embrace.
Five roses
For a broken heart
Which wallows in pain
And breaks every evening,
A reminder of what once was.
Six roses
For anniversaries,
Eternal strength and eternal faith
But mostly
Eternal love.
Seven roses
From a lover,
To state the message
Every girl awaits:
"I love you now, and forever more."
