Twin Flames

Old souls, kindred souls
Wondering lost and alone
Severed by time
Separated by distance
Each left
Longing
Yearning
Praying
Wishing
Hoping
And searching
For the other
Desires grow
Out of control
With each passing day
Divided, they are
Incomplete
Slowly withering away
Beneath the weight
Of their heavy hearts
Deep within
Then perhaps
Coincidence,
By chance
They turn a corner
And face to face
They are there
For a brief moment
Time stands still
Two lonely hearts
Reunited
Two lost souls
Entwine
And become one
After a lifetime
Of searching
At long last
Twin flames
Ignite is passions
That know no bounds

Author notes

This is a special gift from myself to a good friend In AZ who is without a doubt my soul sister. My gift to her and her husband for winter solstice. May their flaming passions never die!

its been awhile since i've come around and graced your pages with my presence but as i read above your words are most graceful in recognizing the validity of your bond with another. Its always grand to see one share their emotions for another. Great work here bel.

I cannot help but chuckle slightly with your comment. Not that it is comical in anyway, it's very sweet and kind and I thank you very much. But I chuckle at your grandmother being buddhist and her beliefs ONLY because the friend that I wrote this for is buddhist as well. And to see someone read this piece and make the connect and so exact I might add just kind of lightened my heart with a lil chuckle.

Thank you for your kind words and very astute abservation.

    great job!

i really enjoyed the pace of this poem due to how many words you put per line. it also seemed so passionate. my grandmother is buddhist and she believes in reincarnation and how souls return once again after people die. this very much reminded me of her beliefs. anyway, great read; lots of heart!

Celtic, a very nice read, its easy to feel the loss of not being together in this one. one part 'For a brief moment
Time stands still Two lonely hearts' this I thought was kind of stirring, you know one of those parts that set the mind to thinking. image and Visions

    Enchanting!

WOW! Profoundly Awesome! The metaphors were OFF the chart!!!
The images were filled with affection passion and sensuality.
I really loved the depth width and breadth of this piece.
It transcended shallow lust and spoke with deep desire
    the hearts yearnings! Bravo darling!

Placing things in a cosmic context like this makes me wonder how many lives two old souls would have to spend apart before they briefly met again. Interesting thought...
