It is said Margaret's Forte' is her Sonnet
To which many who know her attest to be true
She might write of green grass with sparkling morning dew
Then skip through garden during a lovely sunset
Sometimes I glide from line to line in gentle rhyme
Or thumb through dictionary since she is well read
Her knowledge is vast and keen more than I have said
If ever you need to chat she always makes time
A person you can count on with consistency
No better friend in life could you possibly find
Has a peacefully calm intellectual mind
Priceless pearls of wisdom her mental currency
Shining sonnet star is the best way to portray
So in this French Sonnet I say Happy Birthday

A Sonnet is a poem consisting of 14 lines (iambic pentameter) with a particular rhyming scheme:
Examples of a rhyming scheme:

A Shakespearean (English) sonnet has three quatrains and a couplet, and rhymes abab cdcd efef gg.
An Italian sonnet is composed of an octave, rhyming abbaabba, and a sestet, rhyming
cdecde or cdcdcd, or in some variant pattern, but with no closing couplet.
Usually, English and Italian Sonnets have 10 syllables per line, but Italian Sonnets can also have
11 syllables per line.
French sonnets follow in this same pattern, but normally have 12 syllables per line.

This is awesome! I have lost touch with MargaretG and must go by and see her
... Its cool to read and catch up on things that I have missed. I couldn't even try to write a sonnet, I did once in english class last year, and got an A, but I think my teacher just felt sorry for me, because my sonnet was just sad
...
Anyways, This is well written, and boy do I need to send her a very belated birthday wish!

Thank you Pixie.
I'm overwhelmed by this sonnet, very lovely and kind. You know that I am grateful to you for shining a light for me, and so often saying "yes, you can!"
I would not have come to AP except for your encouragement, so really, I owe all my success to you. Thank you for being my friend.

Ah, She is indeed the Sonnet Queen and you have done her honor by posting a tribute in this form. You handled it nicely (not that I know a Sonnet from a sonar, but it get to the point...which is your love for the birthday girl.
Margaret is a wonderful lady as you so plainly stated, but did you know she's mean to baby ducks? It's true! Ask her. Tell her Ima/Yem told you!

God Bless You, Me & All A LOT
Thank you Hugh and All. Well, I see Margaret got a promotion since I called her a sonnet Princess to Queen. Aussie Angel Angelica Joan is writing some marvelous sonnets too. I could have just as easily inserted her name in here (as I notice you too, Hugh, say Queens) and AAAJ has been a constant light in my life. Truly, whenever she is on I feel a spiritual grace and peace beyond explanation as I feel a strong presence too when I see Margaret's light and you too, Hugh. I think a lot of us are on the same spiritual wave length thanks to AAAJ's angel dust and angels and all of us being of kindred soul. Thank you for your comment as since you too, Hugh, are so HIGHLY thought of in the Sonnet world on AP by Margaret and Angelica and many others...I feel like the King of Sonnets just stopped by.

Dear Pixie,
You have, in a sort of French way, given an accurate portrayal of Margaret as a wonderful person. Every word you have written rings true of her and I wish you the very best of luck in this contest with your thoughtful, well-written entry. Applause.
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
PS: Did you know that she is one of my joint sonnet Queens? -
Your words are so true!
I met Marg as she still used the name peaseeker. And since then I have never been gone of her pages
The lines she writes hold our attention, make us think. Her humour is always light and leaves us with a big smile.
Thanks for this wonderful tribute to this wonderful lady

A beautiful french Sonnet Pixie, I'm not experienced enough yet to say if it's right, but it looks pretty good to me.
And it's so true about Margaret what you have written.
Hugs angelica
