Two black cowboy hats
are hanging on the wall
it used to be just mine there
in the lonely long white hall.
There's a new pair of boots
I trip over them some times
but I'm sure I'll get used to it
and soon I'll be just fine.
A new horse is in the stable
when I go feed mine at night
he's different than the others
but he's such a handsome sight.
That new truck there in the driveway
will take some getting used to
it looks so big next to mine
all shiny but far from brand new.
Then there's that German Shepard
who's always barking in the dark
but he gets along with Oscar,
my little dachshund, in the park.
I set another place
at the table next to mine
dinner for one is gone
now, dinner's ready at nine.
And when I fall asleep
I might make it through the night
this house seems so much safer
like the brightest, warmest light.
It's when I go to work
that I can realize this whole thing
it's when everybody asks
to see the diamond ring.

I like this poem alot!
There's a new pair of boots
I trip over them some times
that's my favorite line...leave it to a cowboy to leave his boots in a place where you can trip over them! good job on this piece! -
I loved this piece! It's so cute, and again, I can really identify with it, I could from the first line, cause both my boyfriend and I wear black cowboy hats, lol, and I know I've tripped over his boots in the morning a time or two. It's great to have you back, I always really enjoy reading your work. Thanks for posting, Muchas amor, Amanda
