Chrsitmas In The Meadow

Snowflakes have begun to fall
drifting  softly to the ground
laying a blanket of pure white
winter created without a sound

All the creatures in the meadow
they celebrate with a jamboree
for tonight it is Christmas eve
all across the snow covered lea

It is the time for decorations
on bushes and evergreen trees
hang sprigs of holly everywhere
for the little creatures to see

Snowshoes rabbits are hopping
leaping and jumping for joy
anxiously waiting for St. Nick
bringing his bag full of toys

Bunnies are peacefully sleeping
visions dancing in their heads
dreaming of eight tiny reindeer
pulling St. Nicklaus's big sled

Gray squirrels are frolicking
each one begins stepping in tune
marching like wooden soldiers
playing by the light of the moon

All the chipmunk"s cheeks chatter
reading a poem makes them smile
it is "The Night Before Christmas"
he will be here in a little while

The animals deep in the forest
scurry home to fall fast asleep
the meadow is still and quiet
not heard is a sound or a peep

Suddenly far off in the distance
sleigh bells are ringing once again
St. Nicklaus has come and gone
again it is Christmas in the glen
