Sweet Sue

Missing image
There is a special poet
found here on allpoetry
her user name sweet sue
but she is still Linny to me

She and I  grew up together
she's my real sister you see
always there to lend a hand
and there to always love me

As a child I was really a pest
always wanting to tag along
but she always let me follow
though I didn't really belong

Teenage years we would fight
I thought I was being cool
little did I know way back when
I was really acting like a fool

You still loved me no matter
if I hurt you or was just mean
we drifted apart even more
when I married at seventeen

But when my life fell apart
you were always there for me
sweet sue is the perfect name
you were always sweet as can be

So this poem is to say thank you
for overlooking my insensitivity
and to thank you for the love
you have always given to me

Happy Thanksgiving Linny (sweet sue)

Author notes

She is my real sister on and I love her and hope she forgives me for some of the dumb things I have done throughout my life  *&hug*

Dear Sis, What a beautiful Thanksgiving gift. You have me in tears...again. There is no need to thank me. You have given me many happy times...especially sharing your wonderful grandchildren with me....while I've been waiting for some of my own. So many great memories. I was just talking to Phil about coming to the girls' Christmas Concert. Even though it's a long drive and in the evening...this is Cassy's last one and we would like to be there. Then she'll be off to college...I can't believe how quickly the time goes. I'll let you know. You must know that whatever you have said or done in the past, I have long since forgotten. Sisters have no need to forgive. Thank you again for the beautiful poem. I love you! ~ Linny

    A lovely tribute

I am sure there is nothing to forgive
for if she is what you say, she has
    already forgiven you
    a long time ago.
A lovely tribute to your sister.

I shall have to go and read some of her poems

    Hugs

What a lovely idea, to choose one special person in your life and give them thanks on this holiday season. Very good poem.
