Late Good-Byes

Good- bye, wait, stop , there's more to say.
I need more time, just one more day.
A chance to feel your bones embrace.
A chance to feel your warm, soft face.
I'd tell you how your soul is bright.
At times giving me strength to fight.
All the emotions I never expressed.
Apologies for times when I made you feel less.
As my mom you showed me how to Love.
To speak my mind, to push and shove.
Stand up tall, I am someone.
She was your moon I was your sun.
One day my soul will seek you out, we'll reunite I have no doubt.
For now I hold you in my heart wishing you were here.
I'm happy for you now, you've nothing left to fear.
I cry for me, I can't let go.
I want to see, I have to know.
Can you hear my good-byes?
I love you so.

This is an amazing poem, very full of emotion and I felt that hollow choked up feeling inside when I got to the end of the poem. Though I can only imagine what that's like, since I have not lost anyone that close in my family. simply brilliant writing.

Wow... Where did this come from? I have an idea but was it yours or for someone? This touchs me in many ways. Your flow is beautiful.

This was written to my mother, tears on the page after she passed. We weren't close when she was alive and now that I'm grown and have been humbled by life... I wish she was here to tell her "I get it now"!
      Thanks for reading and commenting
      peace and love

I decided to come searching for your first poem posted here and I'm so glad I did. I lost my mother when she was only 57 years old, an unexpected death. She was on vacation in another country and it was several days before she was back home.

I understand everything you're saying in this wonderful poem, the heartache, the lonliness, the feelings of wanting to have said more to her when she was alive. I was like that, too, still am to degree, though it's been about 29 years since she passed away. I miss her but we still communicate sometimes.

I'm glad you're not changing any of this poem since it's what you were feeling at the time you wrote it. It's perfect because of those feelings.

Thank you for reading and commenting but I won't change anything. I didn't write this to be asthetically pleasing. This is a very personal write about my dead mother. I wrote it in tears right after she passed so how it came out is how it shall always remain. IN fact I have the paper I wrote it on and it is stained with tears. Thank you for the comment
      Peace and Love

Good work on this, yeah, sorry for your mom passing on, I think anyone who has ever lost anyone or had to say goodbye can relate to this. I have not lost either of my parents, but I have lost both my grandfathers. I can relate to this also from saying goodbye to a good friend who I had to leave behind when I left for college. We hugged and then said goodbye and then she was just gone, and it seemed way too fast, I wanted just one more day, and then one more, but anyway, good write, I can definitely relate on more than one level.

Im sorry for your loss. But there is one thing that I always keep in mind. There is never a goodbye. Now when it comes to me and my mother. My mom died 4 years ago, but she is still with me everywhere I go. She lives in me. So remember that you will see her again, she just moved to a better place, the place where you will join her one day.
Thanks for entering and best of luck to you

    Dear Blueyez,
Very mournful and poignant.I'm happy to see you write about these things, it is probably therapeutic and cathartic.
I lost my Mom two years ago at the young age of 85.
She was so energetic that it came as a surprise to all us grown kids. Hope you are strong, you will needs be. But keep up your writing and learn about this thing called poetry, and grow, always!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Chins up kiddo! It gets better!
