The scent of pine trees in the air
evergreens stand out upon the hill
branches dressed with glistening snow
snow birds nesting among the the yews
Church bells ringing yuletide cheer
echoing excitement throughout the valley
a prelude to a the joyous season upon us
that leaves visions of childhood wonderment
small eyes searching the sky for flying reindeer
the sound of jingle bells in the December sky
Awakening to children"s laughter early Christmas morn
crackling embers flickering in the open fire
as the frost decorates the window panes
the anticipation of the morning was worth the wait
scattered wrappings leave a trail of happiness
squeals of delight from little voices of surprise
Traditions from generations past revisited
warm gatherings of abundant love fill the homes
heartfelt reunions kiss under the mistletoe
the season for love and understanding has arrived

OH! The picture was fun!
Gets me all in the mood for Christmas. For some reason this year, I keep forgetting that it's just around the corner. This piece is just a soft breath of happy air, that's what it is! It sounds like you've really caught the spirit something fierce! I think that wonderful. It's good to see some high spirited poems!
