Leaving you feeling all the same
Without reason
What is blocking your mind?
What have you found when there was nothing to find?
Without reason
Your without reason
But "God" knows, right?
Believe everything preached to me
Look into yourself
Your hollow
You will find
Crawling within the dirt
To "Him" that is all your worth
You listen
Hear any sound?
Believing every sound without thinking
Are you listening?
But "God" will tell you, right?
Believe everything read to me
Look into yourself
Your hollow
You will find
Remaining within the crowd
Baffled by what you believe to be reality
Are you thinking
Is it better to believe
Better believe, your being deceived
Do you see it?
You don't see it
Your "God" won't open your eyes
Your "God" never did anything
Look into yourself
Your hollow
You will find
I don't see it, but I believe it
I can read it, so I believe it
I can preach it, so I can feed it
You feed me your pure...white lies
Is it better to believe
Knowing your being deceived
For "Him" would you die?
Without knowing why?
Don't call me crazy
Don't call me insane
Take a look at yourself
Before you point and blame
I used to be like you
An ant to your "King"
But no matter how much I gave
"He" never did a thing
Your beliefs are dangerous
A scary, dangerous thing
I won't kill a man in the name of "God"
So I believe nothing
So as the world falls into
This fake reality
Full of angels in the skies
And fire for eternity
I will simply sit and stare
In honest sympathy
Watching as your religion
Becomes your apocalypse...

Again, DAMN FUCKING GOOD!! And I am off singing in my head again. And....my father is a pastor or something like that -general secretary of the churches in south africa - whatever that means, and I have been fed BULLSHIT for most of my life. Don't get me wrong, I respect other religions, but the 'christians' (well most of them) should not be allowed to preach their lies. They feed masses white lies that grow and create fear within them, only to obey rules and in some way to control them all. Most excellent write. Well done.

-
well thanks! I agree with you on respecting religions. I don't hate them or anything. I just very very seriously disagree with them
. But that must be tense living with someone like that! I'd love debate him into being agnostic

Congratulations on your two gold wins. While I don't totally agree with you, I respect your opinion and you presented it in a very intelligent, poetic way. Great job, and thank you for entering the contest. Good luck.

well we can't all agree on everything...and religion is a touchy subject I understand so let me say I didn't mean to offend anyone writing this...but thanks for the compliment...and good job with judging the contest
-
-
this is so true
its like, people put so much into believing something thats pretty much being shoved down their throats, get nothing back, and well youve explained it really well
great write
-
-
Thank you...yeah I was one of those people having it shoved down my throat...but its always good to question two things...religion and authority.

I'm not alone!
Finally a poem that asks the question that have no answers. I have so far read five different religious poems in my contest and had to bite my toungue in order not to challenge them. No book, or books, have all the answers! I agree with everything you have said. Thank you for entering my contest this poem was a relief. -
-
glad you liked it...yeah I have a huge problem with people believing in books for answers...they are all made by another man...and all men are flawed...so if a flawed man writes a book about gaining perfection and holyness...well then we have a serious problem...thanks for your comment

Very deep
I prefer to keep to the Indian beliefs, Great Spirit and so forth. I believe everyone should think for themselves. It was scary for me to figure out that I didn't buy the whole "church" thing, but with freedom comes study and soon the pieces fall into place. This was a very good poem.

You've certainly brought out many commentators to your site and this provision of a forum is important. We can come together with different beliefs and state them without bashing. I've read the previous comments and the compassion is admirable. Many also believe that all you need is one book - but the Bible references books not contained within itself. Also says to seek out wisdom. It is truly all around us - I wish you only the best in your journey.
-
thank you for your comment...no I am not an agnostic...I am Atheist...although I used to be a very strong believer in religion...about 2 years ago I began asking questions which no one had any answers for...I do not hate religion though...I do see how it is a possitive influence for alot of people...and anything that can bring a smile to someones face...I think...is the greatest thing ever...although I believe the base of relgion is a total facade...I can't argue that it is not possitive in some ways...

Agnostic?
Are you an agnostic? Regardless, I think this is a powerful point of view. It's a powerful write, it makes one think. Good luck in the contest
-
congratulations on finding your truth
This is a really awesome, amazing poem. I am Asatru (Norse neo-Pagan), we have no book for our beliefs, just nature, I think the religions that have books to tell them what to believe are very narrow-minded and scary. You put your emotions into words quite nicely and I'm looking forward to reading more of your poetry. -
very interesting example of what a person goes through who is questioning their faith. It is good to question. I went through many bitter years. But let me tell you, it feels so much better to just give it all to him. There is no way I can possibly explain this to you. But I hope you find the path you are looking for. Just try not to be too bitter.
-
This is defiantely a powerfull poem, that expresses your beliefs. I comend you for having the strength and courage to stand up and speak from within yourself. I like the general message of not listening to everything your told and believing it automatically for the truth. I do not think that anyone should ever do that. Also everyone should learn to think for themselves. I do have to agree with that as well. I have spent many nights sitting and thinking and questioning what I beleive and I have choosen to believe in a God, and I feel that is right for me. If it turns out wrong the worst thing that I have done is lived a good life. In all reality. You have written your thoughts out verry passionately, and very well done. Good luck with this piece.

I am sorry, but I do not understand how we are supposed to be his "children" or "friend" but yet he allows this all to continue...all this war, fear, pain, sorrow...all of this...he knows we don't want it...then why does he insist on letting it stay this way?...does that not seem the slightest bit sadistic too you?...I know "satan" is the one causeing it...but does "god" not have the power to stop it?...and I relise religion isn't too protect you...but I mean...when I actually did believe in this...I never felt comfortable...I was always afraid...and I know its not "gods" job to do that...but I felt nothing at all...while everyone else seemed to be feeling so free...I felt confined...I just don't get it I guess...plus...I have a question sort of on this topic...if "god" can forsee the future...then how are we really free?...how are we able to think for ourselves if it has already been forseen?...and how can we be held accountable when really...it wasn't our decision...but anyways...thank you so much for your thoughts and ideas on religion...it is very interesting!...Although it seems like I will never quite understand it...oh well...thanks for your comment...and take care...

WOW!!!! Pretty amazing work. You covered alot in this. You are truly talented. But.....just hear me out..... can i ask where you got this ability to write? I would think it came from God. God doesn't want people to be religios. As a matter of fact, it was the religious that he tried to change. Religions aren't of God,they are of man. God gave us the Law to show us where we fail, not to restrict us. Religion has nothing to do with God. Being a Christian has nothing to do with following a set of rules. Christianity is not about heaven and hell, its about a relationship with the Heavenly Father. The one who calls us friend. Religion will not help you, save you, or protect you. Religions will only give you a false sense of security. A relationship, a true relationship with Christ is what being a child of God is all about. Satan has poluted the minds and blinded the eyes and hearts of this world. He'll do what ever it takes to decieve anyone he can. He is a liar and the master of ALL lies. He paints a pretty picture. God didn't call us to be servants, remember he said a servant knows not his master. Thats why we are really CHILDREN of GOD. When we accept him he frees us from the slavery we were actually in. God gives us every breath. Every heartbeat is an extension of his Grace. He hates what this world has become and he has promised to destroy it. Everyday we wake up is another day, another minuteor hour that God has waited for the world to find him. And he said seek and you shall find. But you have to seek him first. Im glad that I did. God bless your pen and you my friend. Great job!

I could leave a big huge long comment agreeing with you, but I will just say that I agree, and I think that you are very brave for saying the things that you said, there are so many people who be so quick to judge what you've said without actually listening to what you've said. I loved it! Thank you for entering and good luck in the contest!
-
wow, what a piece of work, after reading your write and and comments on this, I dont think there is much left to say, I thought how you made people think with this was brought out very well and you did a good job questioning people, many people have no idea why they believe what they do and I agree that there are so many simpletons that believe things just because they hear it, but at the same time, yes beliving is a very dangerous thing, but putting our faith in God is not, and I want to say that even though I dont agree with everything that you might have said, I do respect what you wrote and how think, its good when people go out and say excatly what they feel, very good job with that, and good luck in the contest!

AMAZING WORK!!!
Ok, this is just AMAZING, it so good it gave me goose pumps, you are of young age, yet you express yourself amazingly, your philosophy on religion and life is so deep and bleak, just like this bleak reality we live in, I know what you are talking about, how religion cripples the human mind and how it feels to be praying to a deaf sky, i know when you are in pain and you have no one to turn to, people try to tell you to turn to "God" but the funny thing, didn't they ever wonder where is "God" when you need him?well I have suffered alot before with my believes and now I am happily (yet a disappoined) athesit, I thought that there is more good in life, but unfortunally there isn't . Some people think that it's better to have a "God" to watch over you and to remind you that you have boundaries that you should not cross, well after all , come to think about it , Religion is a good way to control and repress the masses, because people tend to really freak out and believe these religious concepts.Anywho, just wanted to tell you I totally love your poem , it's really amazing , my favorite lines of it were the following:
"
So as the world falls into
This fake reality
Full of angels in the skies
And fire for eternity
I will simply sit and stare
In honest sympathy
Watching as your religion
Becomes your apocalypse..."
Amazing write again, i read it about 3 times, and I liked it everytime even more.
Wish you good luck with everything, I think I have something about god and religion, I'll enter your contest just to share.

I like this poem.
I think that you truly shouldnt
listen to any book, to tell you
what to think or believe in. -
Great
This poem is a good poem. I like the way it stands out from everyone elses. Every poet comes into the contest thinkin that their poetry stands out. But it really donesnt. You beat everyone and this is something to be really proud of because it was many in this contest... You beat me and I thought I was goin to win it.. Check out some of my poetry. Congratulations. -
wow, lol okay i am just going to say what i think okay i really hope i don't upset you or affened you in anyway. But this is what i think. I think god put us on this plant, in this world to make a better life out of a sinful life. We live in this world ful of sin and hate and everyone is so bitter and well i was just like that i was a sinner and i hated alot of things. But when i came to christ my world just got so much better i stoped hating myself and others i started to have a better relationship with my parents. (even though they are divorced) and i just got so much better. So see god wants us to obey him to follow him and do as he asks and in return he loves us, protects us. and defends us. well..... okay no i shouldn't say its a "deal" type of thing. But okay God loves everyone, he loves you and me and everyone. Even if they are a sinner. But see if you obey god and love him you get to spend the rest of you "after life" in heaven in peace. And you kno what the best part of being a christian and a follower is knowing that no matter what i always have some one that loves me for me. And i kno that no matter what i am forgiven i am not judged and i am not looked apon as a slut or as a "holy one" or as this or that. I am a child of god. I am not the best follower and i don't have all the answers and all that but if you want you can ask me your questions and i can try to put answers to them. I won't give you lies just what i know. And one other thing i don't HAVE to be a servant of god its my choice to follow him. And in th bible it says (not excate words) that god is looking for the weak not the strong, he isn't looking for the man with all the answers he is looking for the questionable, he isn't looking for the "perfect one" he is looking for the troubled . So don't be shy to ask questions and don't think he isn't going to be there for you because out of everyone in this world he is the only one that is 100 gillizon % behind you.

wow!...thank you so much for actually giving this a chance...but I have a question about your comment...how can you say you are supposed to be an ant to your "King"?...does that not make you question "God" at all...why does he demand so much?...aren't we suppose to be his children?...not his servants?...Don't get me wrong...I am not trying to disrespect your faith...I just have alot of empty answers on this subject...thank you so much for for your comment...it was probobly the most meaningful one I have had...
-
awesome
In a way, I understand, because so many people say 'Well, the Bible says...' and usually have NO idea what they're talking about, or it's an illegitimate point. I am a Christian, but only because I chose to be, and I have my own beliefs and knowledge as to what's right and wrong. Great poem, pretty controversial. Keep it up.
-
wow, this was incredible. i know exactly how you feel, and i feel the same way. im not really sure what i believe in, im kind of confused, so i just try to be a good person, and see what happens. but yea, life can be a bitch, and its hard to believe sometimes... sometimes i start to believe then i laugh at myself, haha. well anyways, great write, i really did enjoy it. good luck in the contest!!!
-
Okay.... were can i start. I don't really know how to explain this. This write was really really good. Like i think this shows how you feel about your faith or about faith in general. I really loved this poem. At first i really wasn't sure what to think and it took me a while to take it all in. An i think i read this poem about 5 times and i can't seem to get enough. You really have a... different way at looking at things and its cool. I think my favorite part was...I used to be like you
An ant to your "King"
But no matter how much I gave
"He" never did a thing...
At first i thought this way too. when i was becomming a christian and well now i see that's what we are suppose to be a ant to our king, a servant or the lord. Its hard but i can't wait till the out come to live in peace... forever. I can't wait i am soo excited. This was a really awesome poem it made me think about alot of things. And i really just wanted to say i really enjoyed this. Keep writting because i want to keep reading what you have to say. Thanks for entering! Best of luck to you. ~dreamer
