Your image burned into my brain
I see you everywhere I go
and in everything I do.

You inspired me to thrive
in a world that turned it's back
and quickly closed it's eyes.

You helped me dig the grave
where I buried my empty shell
hollowed out by decisions past.

You'll never know how much I care
even though I've found the words....
You're just an image in my brain.

Author notes

Okay, so it's 6:30am and I am 9 1/2 hours into a 12-hour shift at work (not to mention I worked a 12-hour shift last night). I'm really tired and decided to write SOMETHING just to try to stay awake.  It's odd, it's strange, it's exactly how my mind works on little sleep
Enjoy!

If this is what happens when you stay awake. Well, keep doing it
regularly, and keep on penning such work for your readers.

Well I did not find it strange at all
I found it to be well expressed and enjoyed what
    the words had to say...
    well done

Hello! I liked this part of your poem very much! Impossible to believe though that you wrote this with just about no sleep! he he he!! : So, here is what I like about your poem: You inspired me to thrive
in a world that turned it's back
    and quickly closed it's eyes.

You wrote this even though you have worked 12 hours shift consecutively? It's unbelievable really! This is beautiful, yes, and besides writing with a tired body and mind, I also see that all you can think of is the one you love, with the image burning in your mind. Wonderfully penned and thanks for featuring it. I loved this, definitely deserving of an applause (I am running out of any, but for this I will!)
