Wish Upon The Stars of Dusk

The stars hang nigh in a stretch of black
Of which the canvas of dusk beholds
Kneeling adjacent the window pane
The greatest wish within me unfolds

I set my wish upon a star
Oh, if only that boy were mine
Only a day’s time shall elapse
Before that star sends me a sign

And lo behold, as my gaze returns
Upon that star which bore my plea
Fulfillment of my wish comes forth
Such great a joy it has sent me

Author notes

Just thought I would write this piece to express my joy, for I do, indeed, believe that the very wish I made upon the first star we saw that night has come true.  I can recall, stretched out on the trampoline, all of us kids staring up at the endless sea of stars ... we all made silent wishes of our own that night, my friends and I, and yet, in some sense, it seemed that we all knew exactly what the other had wished for.  And now, slowly but surely, that wish of mine comes falling back into the palms of hands, the greatest thing that I could ask for, right now. <333
