Morbidity

Suddenly
although the word is still unreal
death surrounds me

Though I have not been stricken
with grief
and my heart remains whole,
like the dark clouds
looming on the horizon
I can see the rain far away
and growing nearer

Filled with fear I can only wait
to see if the storm will
break on me
or, by some miracle, pass me by

Author notes

I've written notes to people, saying things that I want them to know if I die before I can tell them. Now *that* is morbidity.

love to all

i don't know what it is about this, usually free verse type of poems don't have much appeal to me unless their phenomonal from a lyricist' standpoint, but this definitely appeal to me, i applaud you for that reason
