Lonesome Call In The Moonlight

Through the moonlit dark of night,
a gray wolf calls out in loneliness.
Watching from my campfire's light,
singing his heart's song he must.

Sitting on an edge of a mountainside,
gazing into a glowing opulent moon.
Amber eyes glowing in anguished might,
he croons a sad lonesome wolf's tune.

Mankind has driven his kind to the edge,
canine species in merciless annihilation.
Sister and brother,mother,father and lover,
shot down in hunger from man's ruthless binge.

I sit sipping coffee here by my fire,
wondering where it's all going to end.
Balance of nature caught up in a quagmire,
in destruction of nature I cannot defend.

His lonely cry in the night,I share despite,
in human persuasion I can take no delight.

BRAVO! This is simply magnificant! The wanton destruction of nature is not noticed by the masses only to those who live and wander in the woods, the shores and the desserts. But alas, when it is much to late, we as a society will cry for the wolves!
Marvelous, yet terribly sad and true.
