Let's keep the communication channels clear
Actually, you touch on a long held belief, which is that teachers have to be careful in how they act at all times, because whatever they do is kept in mind by others in the community, especially the students. However, this has been carried out to such an extreme; in the past, some schools required that their teachers be unmarried, or only female, or unmarried females.
I have thought that maybe if students saw that their teachers are human beings and like their selves, have to wrestle with life's daily problems, that this would be more efficaciously instructive and truthful. Of course, I'm not advocating that we discuss sexuality openly with minors, but perhaps letting them see that we too have hangups, like alcoholism, addiction, mental illness, budget difficulties, etc. -
