Whats in a Name (A Christmas Tale)Animated

When I was Little, Not so long ago

Great confusement did Christmas bestow

For from the stories that to me were read

Christmas time was a time to dread.

For clearly It did seem to me

that there were Two very separate Christmas entity

There was the man all dressed in red

who held you tight in the mall and said

Ho Ho Ho I’m feeling jolly

I’m Father Christmas And he gave you a lolly.

But then there was the one in the song

He dressed the same but something was wrong

So I listened to the warning that was sang to me

And I hoped this man never to see

It told of man that was coming to town

I thought of him as big with a terrible frown

With fangs as long as the dogs next door.

He had to be evil with a name like Claws.

and why did he keep a list of all that were nice

When one just for the naughty would have sufficed

Now I might have got things horribly wrong

Totally confused by one harmless song

So take note of this lesson when Christmas is around

And to the children try not to confound.

And refer to the man with the toy filled sack

As old St Nicolas and leave it at that.

Author notes

yes I made up confusement !!!!because it sounded good

    great story

this was a great made up story. It was very entertaining. I also like the catch at the end about St.Nic. I think that you're very good at writing stories that you just make up. To me it is even harder writing a story about a certain holiday of the year. Great job!

Ha ha ha,. oh now this is so typical and humerous.
It can be so confusing for kids, I remember the first time I took my eldest as a toddler to see Santa, and she just screamed her head off..... lolol.
Extremely well done Paul. as always you have a gift of doing these.

Poor kiddies, I never thought of Santa in quite this way but you've created just the right amount of confusion mixed with very possible possibilities ina child's mind.

A very enjoyable (if just a bit sad) write.

    Good luck in the contest

Enjoyable and amusing. A few places where your capitals don't seem right, in the middle of sentences. And is "confusement" really a word?

Santa Claws brings me marriage, and
    Santa Clause brings me divorce.

I grew up thinking it would be the other way around!

This is really cute Paul. I love the double meaning placed on the song. I guess it's easier than I might have thought for a child to get things so twisted if even YOU were fooled!! Great poem!

Oh this is so true. I guess I wasn't smart enough back then to think of all this. Though I hated that jerk in the mall. He smelt funny and I just didn't like him! LOL! This was great, dear Paul. Very cute and humorous and kind of sweet all at once. Great job and Happy Holidays!

    Hugs
