Brilliant! Christmas is almost here again!
Another month of the same old refrain.
Happy Christmas is not my favourite phrase.
Happy Hogmanay is more suited to my ways.
Up in Scotland they do things right.
Making merry on Old Year's Night.
But down in England it's too unpleasant
Usually everyone just wants a present.
Genuine Christ Mass is considered too crass.

Thanks for the response Ron. I now know at least one person spotted the Dickens reference.

I really like this, it does seem that a lot of people forget the actual meaning of Christmas. I really like that you wrote bah humbug instead of merry christmas, I love the approach you took. That's a true artist, thinking differently than everyone else. I really think that you truly have an artist's mind. Great write!

Thanks for reading deeper Alix. The fact that we are not even within Advent and the Christmas references are already flying thick and fast. It is definitely a holiday and not a Holy Day for most nowadays.

I try to read deep, sometimes it's hard but with this it was easy because it's something that I can feel and I really think that people need to find the tru e meaning of Christmas again... I remember going to church on Christmas and there was a play and we never got very many presents but we were happy because we knew the true meaning, not just "look how much money they spent on me" I think it was great that you pointed it out.

this is an interesting poem. I like how it is different and it is a great acrostic. The rhyming is so good. I like New Years but I love Christmas too. I don't know what crass means but I will look it up in the dictionary. I agree though that a lot of times all people want is the presents. I just love how happy everyone is in my home at Christmas time. Thank you so much for entering
and good luck

Thanks for sticking around and reading my stuff this evening (over here anyway). I'm glad you are enjoying it. I have certainly enjoyed jumping around the site today and the muse has struck.
Actually I only logged on to add a --new-- poet to the old poetry site. I must get on with that soon.

lol nice write you have there, of greedy children demanding gifts, the winter holidays really is (rather has) lost any good meaning to it. Awesome poem
