"cheating, stealing, lying"...

When I asked you to stop, I meant it.

about someone that I care about.
He's been there for me more then you have,
through thick and thin, the father I always wanted.
Excuse me if I have a man that cares,
who wanted to be my dad more then my flesh.
He'll be there at my wedding, to give me away,
as you snicker in jealous rage, you'll get over it.

*I am so fucking pissed...* Marty(a black guy that is like my dad, that I've known like the last year, who's always been there for me, and treated me like his own daughter, better then my own dad) was going to get my nails done for my birthday... I couldn't get them done due to work though. Well, I was telling my Grandma about him, and she was like *"You better watch out, he's after something, you know how those black ones are, got the cheating and stealing built right into them.."* and I was like "Grandma, stop, please.." and she continued *"What, I'm right? They're worse then white guys..."* Son of a bitch I so can't wait til I'm gone. I don't even want to talk to her. Hello asshole, *I'm mixed with white and black, and so are 1/2 of her fucking Grandchildren...*

You're grandma doesn't seem very nice. I come off as a racost very often. Because I am a southern Republican and I have a lot of bad experiences with minorities... but if people are good, I love them. When it really comes down to it, I do not hate or judge anyone until they act stupid. Your grandma doesn't seem very bright! sorry!

your grandmother suffers from what she was taught during her times.there are many who refuse to change with the times or they simply can't.my mother is 80 years old and she tries my patience with the comments she makes to her grandkids and great grandkids.in her time things were a certain way and she still embraces ignorance.smile and walk away.if you let her continue to get to you,you are giving your power away.i am a full black woman and i have been adorned with racism from many angles and it is never justified but the justification in dealing with it is not to let it under your skin.your grandmother goes by whet is presented to her by society and has never ventured out on a thought of her own about any of the racism stuff.you are to be highly praised for deciding to remain a virgin in the midst of all this sexual explosion.now that is something to be proud of no matter the color.i hope your wedding is the beginning of a very happy life.

Racial issues are usually jealousy. Black and white for example...the whites hate the black now because the blacks overthrew them and proved their strength and equality. black hate the whites for doubting them in the first place...great write...but the issues will continue sadly.

Racism is something I can't stand. I'm one of the only people in my family that doesn't believe you'll go to hell if you marry someone of a different race. But it's so hypocritical! We have Cherokee blood in us! What about our ancestors??? Nobody's pure white, and whites have their bad people too. We're no better than anybody else. There's no such think as a pure race.

I can't tell you how many times I had to hear and argue with my family members about Simba, as you know he's black and he ended up being the best love I've ever had, I don't regret ever going out with him and though I am hurting now, the pain was worth all the fun and happiness I had with him. You should just say, "Yeah, and ignorance racism is built right into you." I know a few put-down artists and it's a good idea to have a few lines ready when you need them.
I know it's hard but try not to let her opinion get to you. Yours is the only one that matters. Besides, laughing when she makes remarks like that will really confuse her. lol

She's not one of those old senile grandma's though, she knows what she's saying, she doesn't care. Every once in a while, if I talk about someone black, she says the same things, and it's like hello dumbass, earth to fucking grandma Ugh.... Thank you!

That sucks. I definitely feel for you in the stupid grandmother category. I think though a lot of the times they say shit and really don't understand or really think about what they're saying. That's how my grandmother is at least. She says things and means for them to be benign but they come out mean and hurtful. In the end maybe it would help to think that she's just trying to take care of you. :-)
Either way I still feel for you there, and I did like this poem, especially the last line. It hit me pretty hard. :-) Good job!
