colours

red is the colour of my world that is tainted,
black is the silhouette of you being hated,
green is the colour that covers the world that I see
when my heart turns grey because you don't look at me.
Pink is the colour I long to see through rose tinted glasses
searching for the white, just a sense of purity.
Purple fills my air, a sense of royalty
while I stare at the yellow roses you have sent to me.
You shouldn't have bothered,
orange carnations are my favourite,
but you probably didn't know that.

So excuse me while my heart turns blue,
and the thought of your brown eyes,
leaves a sapphire aching for you.

Author notes

I don't know if orange carnations exist, but perhaps this poem will give way to a potential hybrid. ...maybe.

    wonderful

I Love it!!!you had a very consistant flow and the way you personified the colors added marvelousimagery to this magnificent piece!I enjoyed reading it, my apologies 4 being late on comment, I'm still grounded, but it's a very wonderful piece, I enjoyed the melancholic undertone Ruth
