Of Spirit and Science

Your skin is electric
Like wool—with mounting static energy
Each time my hands pass tenderly,
Lovingly, charging you for release,
Caressing the places that make your body sing,
Just like I want to do, like I was hoping to,
Since the time when we began.

I want to let my hands be like the Hebrews,
Let them wander in the desert of your dissatisfaction
Until finally, the gates come wide,
And I make your lips subtly part
With desire’s deep-laid fissure,
So I can see the petal-pink within
And taste the motherland’s sweet milk and honey.

I want to make a sin with you,
The ken of which has been condemned
Since that moment when Eve and Adam laid
And fed on Cain’s conception.
I want to murder decency
In all the ways my mind made manifest
When my godless eyes first saw you,
Bathing in the water,
Sparkling with water,
Your skin alive with that powerful shimmer,
Pulsing with that current, the voltage
That only your unattainable, sensual light can bestow;
Oh! may heat diminish your judgment
And melt your resistance to null.

I want to make your head fold back in abandon,
So that once the stars have fallen from your eyes,
When you are done dancing with God,
Once love has spilled from your temple
Like water from dry rock,
Those stars will weave a net for you
And make for us a bed
Where we can hide as willows sweep away the day.
And I will hold you gently, gently
Your electricity spent in static burst,
The water, warm, and rolling from your eyes,
Your heaven now a shared estate,
And your decorum rent asunder—

I will cradle those remains in my breast and I
Will look upon the opus of what’s left
When you are stripped of weary virtue—
It’s only¬ you—
And I will unearth what matters and I’ll clasp it to my chest
And I see what comes to me as no surprise—
I hold in my corporal reliquary
My nature, my science, my spirit and history,
The singular gravity of my parallel world—
It’s only you,
It’s only you.

Author notes

I didn't mark this as erotica because although it is erotic in nature, I didn't think it was pornographic in any way.

This is a poem for someone I love, someone I think I might want in a way more than friendship.  But I don't know... as I don't know what else to say about this poem.
