Close the door, Gary boy
I'll meet you in the closet
Just close your eyes, Gary boy
I'll knock twice for you
Real isn't real if you don't want it to be
You were always good at playing make believe
Keep your polliwogs and your GI Joes
Ten years from now, I'll tell you what you know
Close the door, Gary boy
I'll join you when it's over
Just close your eyes, Gary boy
for ten years or so
You don't have to share this if you don't want to
Lock it away someplace where it can't hurt you
I'll keep it for you, and I won't forget
Ten years from now, you'll find me in the closet
Close the door, Gary boy
this one belongs to me
Just close your eyes, Gary boy
and make it go away
Close your eyes, Gary boy
Close your eyes
Author notes
Sometimes people forget that besides the obvious victims, there are often seemingly 'unharmed' children, who had to witness these horrible things happening to someone they loved and were powerless to stop it. They are victims too.

You are right I have seen true lifetime movies that dealt with this subject but I think you have greatly expressed it. This is a wonderful poem although on a very tragic subject...

Very, Very Good
How true! Physical abuse isn't the only crime, not by a long shot!!! Mental abuse hurts just as much
Very good, but chilling poem.
