If you would like to see
A structure of wonder
Step inside
I’ll show you my house of glass
Pristine and polished, quaint and quite pretty
Sparkles in sunshine
Winking at passersby’s with its luster
Blinding those who look too long
No dark purple drapes
Or cream colored shades
Everyone thinks I have nothing to hide
But there is much more to my house
Everyone can see into my house of glass
I must always be certain to keep my spine straight
My shoes polished and my hair curled
I must always wear a one-piece bathing suit in the shower
If I want to be private
I can climb underneath my comforter
Take a flashlight
And read my novels
It’s risky living in a house of glass
But imagine if I lived in a house made of brick and stone!
The neighbors would always peer into the small windows
And suspect I’d have something to hide
