We Forgot Halloween this year.

These silver leaves and saplings
Hang delicate across the asphalt
A mirror image to the stars
Flickering, flickering, underfoot.
One step, two –
Further and further away from you.

An eternity just now begun,
As endless songs remain unsung.
Our requiem to the nights we’ve missed
When autumn unfolds,
At the demise of summer’s kiss.

Red, gold, green and brown;
The leaves, they’re all dancing down,
Upon the graves of choices made,

And roads never to be walked again.

    So full of sadness, regret, reminiscing..easy to read and understand,leaving the reader with the wondering of what happened before.
