Happy Birthday Sean

As I listen to your fingers
Caress the ivory keys
I wonder where your mind goes
And what you’re dreaming sees

Do you vision truth and justice
In a world that seems too blank?
Do you wonder where’s the honesty
That keeps some from being frank?

Does the clay you wrap your hands in
Make you wish that you could mold
The hateful hearts and broken dreams
This life seems eager to unfold

As you stare at blissful waters
Skipping rocks on the lagoon
Do you wish the tide would wash us
Of our apathy and gloom?

Do you wish we saw the beauty
That is all around us in our lives
Is that why you strive to create
So to share what’s deep inside?

If we would only listen
To the words you do not say
And read the simple messages
You sculpt and draw and play

We may see the beauty
That lies within our souls
As you have found within you
To lead you towards your goals

I know this is your birthday
But the gifts all come from you
And if we could just accept them
Would it help your dreams come true?
