One day over the rainbow

One day over the rainbow
I'll find my way to the sky
where voice of my sweet darling
will sing me sweet lullaby.

One day I'll find my rainbow
flowers will rain from the skies
and with a heart full of powers
I will dance along butterflies.

One day we'll be together
the way of light and the gleam
skies will paint with soft clouds,
pictures of this beautiful dream.

When life is full of this beauty
raindrops are blessing for the land
rainbow is wiping shadows
with the colors of happy end.

One day over the rainbow
I'll find my way to the sky
where voice of my sweet darling
will sing me sweet lullaby.

Author notes

Ah this is a really sweet and perfectly adapted version of the song! I was told that I'd never regret it if I read this, and I think I agree! It's really great, thanks for the brilliant read!

It was pretty hard to choose which one would be better and I choose this one. Maybe because I like fairy tales to read and to write and I like this song too. I am not going even to imagine your neighbors reaction

I like this. I never really liked wizard of Oz but when I was younger my mom used to sing this song to me and my little brother before we fell asleep snoring loud enough to wake the neighbors nicely put together. -bryan

What a beautiful rensition of the song, in poetry! This held my attention from beginning to end. I love the imagery behind this as well as the many thoughts it conjurs up in my mind. There are so many applications that one can place here. Thank you for entering the contest and good luck!

wow, this is a really good poem. although, ever since i saw Wicked, i liked that "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" version better (more darker, hehe). but, none the less, it was done wonderfully. keep writing!

    <3 always,

    Enchanting and moving!

Woah...had to take a breath after reading that.
And a pause...to find the words!
I looked down your list of recents...fingering through like I was feasting my eyes on a nice selection at the book store...when what to my wandering eyes should appear? (and no I am not going to start reciting Christmas poetry! )
NO folks...NOT a miniature sleigh...but the words contained in one of my most favorite movies of all time! Okay, well it comes in second...but an almost parallel second!
Not only that, but it was my moms favorite and Judy was both of our favorite female singers too...well one of at least.
I cant tell you how many times we not only watched Wizard of Oz...but Easter Parade..and all the others my mother SO loved.
    It makes me miss her.
And here is where this piece blew me away more, for real!
You just described in verse, while hardly knowing me, what the day will be like when I meet my mother again. This made me cry...because it hits it so well...even though you clearly intended it for someone you loved dearly.
The feelings and sentiment are the same though, and eerily so.
It befits for my mother who not only loved that movie, and rainbows...but I love butterflies only second to kitties...and she would love to sing lullabies to me as a child.
God, this made me miss her.
And it was so beautiful....it moved me so much.
Your love for the one you speak of...shines through like a beacon. Our day when we meet them again...will indeed be the most beautiful rainbow of all.
    You did justice to Judy...bravo!
    Peace and love to you,
    ~Kitty {{{{

Yes, maybe she would. I was always in love with her voice and The wizard of Oz. Probably I am still a great kid in my heart.
