Rain

It comes slow and builds fast,
falling down, cleaning the past.
Winds rush and fingers play.
Nature's power is underway.

Fury of the wet mighty storm,
flashing lightning is the norm.
Thunder rolls across the night,
following a white flash of bright.

It's here, it's here! The rain has come.
Marching to that powerful drum.
And in it's passing leaves the land
clean of everything that can't withstand.

Bringing memories of better times,
forgiving us of our past crimes.
It washes away the sins of old -
beauty will once again unfold.

Author notes

The rain took long to come this summer, and finally it's here!

    Stunning Poem

I can feel the rain drops caress my skin with every brilliant line written. You have created wonderful imagery here with this piece.

I love the sound of the rain, its cool drops on my face and the rolling comfort of the thunder. But the lightening scares me a bit

    Wonderful write - well done.

rain, especially after a long dry spell, does seem to have such a washing and cleansing nature to it which you have expressed well in this poem. really good piece of writing and I enjoyed reading your poem very much!

    VERY VERY GOOD!

Oh yes!! I concur with every word of this lovely work. The rain has been long awaited, and when it started yesterday for the first time since roundabout April, with such a spectacular storm, it felt as if all had once again been set to rights. A very beautiful write, my friend, with good rhyming and a rhythm almost like that rain itself. Well done.
