Slicked back fields of grass
Labored dance in the wind.
Beads of heaven's pearls dropping,
Coating the world in tears.
My mother used to tell me
The rain was the tears of angels,
But the thunder was the sound
Of God on His own, bowling.
Every drop gives me a memory
As I walk across the field,
Trying not to lose my footing
When I can't help but skip.
My clothes are soaked through,
My hair is plastered to my head,
But nothing bothers me this moment
As the memories are coming back.
I remember running for cover
With my closest friends
The night the rains came pounding
On our grade school's carnival.
Memories swirl of the dance
With my first boyfriend by the bay
As we let the rain fall onto us
Without a care in our minds.
The good thing about memories
That come rain soaked to your mind,
Is that even when the sun comes back
The smile brought never leaves.

Aunt Erin! This was great! It brought me back to the days when we, my brother and I, would play in the rain and when it stopped go see how many frogs we could capture and sneek into the house! Sadly, we never got one inside, but it was still some of the greatest times of my life. Especially since I can remember my mom standing at the door way, smiling and laughing, saying "No frogs; empty your pockets." And Thomas being right there beside me, "She did it! It was all her!" LOL! Awwww, now I'm reminising. I don't even know if I spelled that right, but yeah. I'm babbling; sorry. Great write and good luck!
