Where Fairies Dwell

Missing image
Out beyond the Jewelled sky
there, where only dreams can fly
Far beyond the Milky Way
where the rainbows go to play
is the land, where Fairies dwell

Here where fairy tales are born
where the sacred oath is sworn
To do only pleasant things
is how a fairy earns her wings
Here was born, the Fairy Nell

Nell was not like all the rest
she with mischief had been blessed
While others did what should be done
Nell would always look for fun
in the land, where Fairies dwell

It usually happened in the spring
when Flower Fairies did their thing
Little Nell would cause a frown
by planting tulips upside down
in the land, where Fairies dwell

Or when a baby tooth fell out
and no Tooth Fairy was about
Nell sneaked in, and with her thumb
shoved the tooth back in the gum
In the land, where Fairies dwell

But most of all she loved to see
her friends upon a Christmas tree
That’s when she puts in double shifts
changing labels on the gifts
in the land, where Fairies dwell

One day the Queen said that’s enough
I’m sick and tired of all this stuff
And all the trouble that it brings
I’m confiscating Nelly’s wings
but this didn't bother Nell

For now across the land she roams
accompanied by Elves and Gnomes
Taking pleasure from the nights
by playing trick with Imps and Sprites
upon the land where Fairies dwell

..

I know what you mean Mark the bottom of my garden is full of stuffy fairies. Nell is a breath of fresh air to me also.
Who in their right mind could take being a fairy serious?
Thank you my friend for your comments

This just a perfect flowing words makes this beautifull fairy tale to be like Jewel in the sky. Rhyme and rhytm are perfect. It also could be lyrics without any change. It is nice that you gave your fairy so sweet name. Nice graphic.Good luck.

My Thanks to you R S for such a wonderful compliment.I have to write in rhyme as it is the only form I am happy with.sometimes it works other times it can fall flat on its face.I am so pleased that you enjoyed this piece, I do try my best to make my work easy to understand as I feel that if you have to try delving to deep to get the meaning of a work it can distract from the pleasure of reading.
Not only that I live in a child's world where fun is the only way to live .Thank you so much for your most welcome comments

humorous and full of thought for me.

I enjoyed the picture and I kept scrolling back to it while I read the poem the first time.
I am impressed once again. Your strucure and rhyme are art in themselves, but how you think of those wonderful things for Nell to do, amazes me. You took me on a trip down childhood lane as you spoke in the language children understand and you told of naughty things which seemed so full of daring and magic to make them acceptable. Wonderful work.

    Bravo! Standing in Applause

I think I simply fell in love with Nell, in the land where fairies dwell.
    sigh
Such magical creatures are they not? Wonderful wonderful verse. This simply flowed and captured the audience with heart and soul.
Could this be the beginning of the Adventures of Nell? All penned in verse? Where does she go next with her sprite and gnome friends? What mischief does she do? What lessons does she learn? Does she miss her wings? ooooooh just think of the places your creative mind could take the tales of Nell.
LOVED this to bits my friend. Excellent writing. ~Pam

    FANTASTIC!

Oh Legend, what a lovely fairy tale... and I must say I absolutely adore Nell... she is the greatest fairy ever!!! She would be a great friend or partner in crime to my own fairy, Chrissie, that I have an ongoing series of short stories about. Beautiful rhythm and rhyme, as usual. This was such a pleasure to read, not only once. I could sense just how much you enjoyed writing this, it shines from every word and line and verse. Bravo!

    Keep well.

This was so funny, to see the child in you coming out. Although this fairy's name was Nell, I think she could be you when you were young. At least I think you were a little boy full of mischief too. I can see you putting the tulip bulbs in up side down or changing the labels on the Christmas gifts. Lol. I had again a good smile Legend. Thanks! Anna.

This is really sweet, especially shoving the tooth back in - what a skinflint, either that or she had left her change purse back where the fairies dwell.
