Barely on the Edge

She sits again
Barely, on the edge
Entirely exposed
Although no one knows
They don't take the time to see.
Maybe they could be
Exactly what she needs.
Misjudgments, lack of respect
All those times you thought you knew
But you could never have known.
She sits alone
Driven by the desire to go
Where ever anyone would take her
If only they could just look at her
Without giving her that look -
The one she has come to know
All too well.
She looks up at the source
The water burns her eyes,
But she could never resist.
At least something
Will touch her pitiful face.
She cries just silently enough
For the drain to hear
And is grateful for the willingness
To notice her tears
And she watches as they flow,
She watches as they go
Knowing no one else would ever know.
Her long hair, tangled by her fingers
She doesn't care if it's kept or not
And she realizes she is invisible
If only she could make it stop...
She turns the lights off
On the count of three,
Begs to herself
Not to go this crazy
But it's already been done,
And it's completely over with
This is something long overdue
And she only desires it.
So she sits, still,
Barely, on the edge
Entirely exposed,
But no one knows
And no one cares
If she is
Or isn't there.

Author notes

This is like the sequel to "Pattern of Anything," my previously most recent poem.

Hmm very good, and very interesting.

I have felt this way countless times, and I think it gets to the best of us.

Hope you feel better soon, if this is how you feel.

    I don't think you're invisible though, you're pretty popular I think.
