Rose Blood (87)

The most beautiful flower of them all,
a rose surpassed by none;
rising amongst the thorns,
and taking its place below the sun.
Blood so dark, cryptic, and red,
crimson drops matching the petals of the rose;
giving life or taking it away,
depending on which way it flows.
A beautiful song captivating me
with its hauntingly beautiful beat;
amazing lyrics, an angelic voice,
a musical daydream so bittersweet.
Someone already claiming the name
of that song seemingly sent from heaven,
so in order to keep its meaning,
I added my birth year-1987,
and shortened it to fit better,
and not take away from the serene flood
of mysterious beauty and darkness;
the song behind my username-Rose Blood.

    Oh trust me, I'm well aware of its overuse in dark poetry. But it seemed to be fitting of this as it pertained to bleeding roses and plus it was a very original poem anyway, so I figured what the heck. lol Thanks again.

    Very nice. Your rhyme is different.I haven't seen a flow like yours before either. I'm usually a person who caps all my lines in my poem, but I wouldn't put that off on anyone else. You have a great way of writing and the form of your poem is free style and I like that. You've done a great job and the ending of your poem is just wonderful.. Keep up the great work and I thank you very much for entering into my contest. Kahy

    excellent

    This poem is excellent. You have a certain beat in it and great rhymes. Your poem has given some ideas I never thought of, like how blood can give life or take it depending on how it flows. This poem is so informative (in a way) and insightful. Thanks for entering the contest. This was an excellent poem!
