Our wedding day finally arrived

Missing image
Our wedding day is finally here
I would soon be married to Heath.
My hands shook as I took Joan’s arm
she smiled “Are you nervous dear?”

“I’m so happy Joan to be his Bride
we’ve waited so long to be married.”
I saw Heath smile as he looked at me
the love in his eyes he could not hide.

As I said my vows my lips tremble
the tears fell as Heath lifted my veil
he leaned over placed a kiss on my lips
our kiss as man and wife was so gentle.

We turned to see everyone watching
their faces were lit up with happiness
as each came forward to embrace me
I’m happy they came to our wedding

It’s hard to believe we’re married
my name is now Mrs Sally Giffen.
Hugh arranged the reception for us, then
afterwards over the threshold I was carried.

Sally Giffen  (now Hinemoa Giffen) Oct 30th 2005

    Dear Hine,

Will we ever forget that day? You and Heath looked so good together and Joan and Edna both had tears of happiness for you in their eyes. I think all brides look beautiful on their wedding day but I will always remember you as one of the loveliest ever.
As the picture shows, even our ducks came to admire you!!
I am pleased that you chose this beautiful poem of yours as your best for this contest. Best of luck in the voting and best wishes for your future lives together.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh R.

    Darling Sass,
I adore your poem and it was worthwhile after all, delaying our marriage until Aunty Joan could come over. She looked absolutely spiffing in that long dress and you were just soooo beautiful it quite took my breath away to see you.
Your two children looked so happy too. I already think of them as "our children" and, although I'm not their father, I love it when they call me "dad".
And above all, it makes me proud to see you so happy, knowing that I am partly the cause. I love you Sass and hope we will always be happy together.
With all my love, XOXOXO Heathcote.
PS: Didn't Joan's photos come out well? Hugh couldn't have arranged better places for the photos or the reception.

    Dear Sally,
Well, the sun could not have shone brighter or any bride have looked more beautiful and although we were just a small gathering (as Heathcote had insisted) there were lots at ther reception which went very well.
Now the cheering is over, Joan has gone home to her Bob, your honeymoon is over but for you and Heathcote it's the beginning of a new life in which Edna and I wish you both every happiness.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
