A Smile Out of the Darkness

For those who have tried to get a smile out of the darkness...

A smile out of the darkness is what I have won
(if you’ve ever done this,
you’ll know it’s a treasure)
for, out of her night I’ve drawn a taste of her sun
(which may be her joy,
but is also my pleasure...)

A moment of happiness shared thus between
two worn souls,
and two weary beings,
and if the beginning reflects the very end
you’ll be not only great friends
but also great lovers.

For in the wild course of our raw, winding lives
the darkness beckons,
the darkness bites;
if there is one out there whose love is just right
out of the sadness, a smile,
out of the darkness, light...

You will whisper soft whispers in the darkness together
running tongues
over another's hungry lips

and melding yourselves together, drink in the darkness
while together through that darkness
our fingers shall dip...

    Very good

Certainly unique in its structure. Love is a subject very far from my core - in fact I doubt its existence fundamentaly - but you've expressed well the accepted ideal of the bond. Weel done.
