My heart is delicate
Treat it with kindness
Hold it close
And keep it warm
For it has been broken
Numerous times mended
Each time stronger than the last
Nonetheless, still so fragile
Walls built for protection
Do not easily fall
Reinforced through the years
As it has weathered many a storm
It has it's faults, yes
But also, a fiery passion
That is slowly fading
As time passes
Too much pain
Endured in the past
Gradually crushing
My spirit beyond repair
Both my heart and spirit
Need repairs
They long to be cherished
And held with unconditional love
So, here I stand
One last time
Giving my heart away
Still having faith in love

Mal, hunny, you always know just how to melt a lady's heart. I love how you look upon life and all that is in it.
Yup I think I'm gonna keep you!

this is beautiful and warms me over....give not the heart but once in life to true love....ye seldom find happiness once in its hold....when loves warmth chill the heart with a pain of lost souls....turn to the light of loves glorious radience....and behold new wonders of the eternal emotion of loves renewal....

Thank you for taking the time to read my work. Your words support the lil hope and faith I have left in love.

This holds true for so many of us that has given our hearts only to be tossed aside. But the walls can only hold so long, someday someone will come along and tear them down and you will love forever. This was a very beautiful write. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful, as always. And resonates with me far too well...
You are such a wonderful poet.
Oh this poem...I'm doing the same thing right now. If you look before you leap, you won't do it. Just...gotta have faith.
