Public Speaking

I try to relax.
Just breathe, just breathe they say.
I roll my eyes at them as I take the podium.
I begin to speak.
But the words that I had practiced had vanished from my head.
Panic stricken I reread my notes.
I begin to speak again.
Faster and faster I race through my speech.
So fast I trip over many of the words and have to stop only to begin again.
Will this nightmare never end?

Author notes
